Sjostrom Breaks 100m Butterfly Record. Again.

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom broke the 100m butterfly record she set in the semifinals. Her time of 56.06 easily beat her semifinal time of 56.44. Silver medalist Jessica Schipper of Australia also beat the previous record. Sjostrom is now the heavy favorite – for now – for gold in London.

Her record was the second of the day. Australia’s Brenton Rickard lowered the mark in the 100m breaststroke, posting a 58.58 time beating the 58.91 by Japan’s Kosuke Kitajima, which he set in Beijing.

American Ariana Kukors lowered her own world record in the 200 IM.

Elsewhere, Rebecca Soni now has the best time in the world this year in the 100m breaststroke. Soni
