Will the USA's famed "Night Train" bobsled take Gold?

Welcome to the final night of competition in Vancouver.

Tonight the last two runs of the bobsled competition. Coming into the final day, Steven Holcomb of the United States, the defending World Champion, held a slim lead. The United States is trying to win its first four-man gold since 1948.

If stressful competition isn’t your thing, the figure skating gala is tonight, featuring daring moves from the best skaters at these Olympic games.

Bode Miller makes his final run at Gold, and Chad Hedrick leads the American speedskaters for possible team pursuit Gold.

At 10:30/9:30, Slovakia and Finland square off for the Bronze medal in men’s hockey.

See you in the comments.

7:22 – Canada up by 3 going into the 10th. Norway has the hammer and is going to need a miracle.

7:32 – Canada wins Gold in men’s curling. Congratulations to them.

7:36 – We’d obviously love to have the gold. But either way, what pressure can you be under? You go out there and lay it on the line.” American forward David Backes on the game tomorrow.

7:37 – NBC just told me for the 10 millionth time that the PGS snowboards are made for racing and are different than the halfpipe snowboards. Yeah, thanks NBC. We get it.

7:57 – Yevgeny Plushenko’s gala performance up now.

8:01 – 3rd run of the bobsled up now.

8:03 – Holcomb with a clean run there, and the US is into first place. You might know the results already, but I’m going to pretend like I don’t and neither do you.

8:12 – Germany’s sled 1 is a half second back.

8:22 – Germany’s 3rd sled is in 7th.

8:30 – The fact that we got Silver in this event without Shani Davis is amazing. That’s an easy Gold with him in there.

8:40 – Meryl Davis and Charlie White just did their ice dancing routine. They’ll be Gold medal contenders in Sochi.

8:45 – Kim yu-Na with another great performance, albeit in a gala.

8:50 – Just so you’re all aware, tomorrow is exactly 50 years to the day that the United States won its first hockey Gold, in Squaw Valley. Do You Believe In Millercles?

8:55 – 8 medals for the US ski team, their best performance ever.

9:01 – Olympic Gold medalist Evan Lysacek just gave the routine that won him the World Championship last year.

9:08 – Slovakia has an early power play in the bronze medal game.

9:29 – Steve Holcomb wins gold in the bobsled for the United States, their first since 1948.

9:50 – Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir just gave their gala performance, complete with a disgusting wardrobe choice.

10:04 – The Bronze medal hockey game is on right now, but that’s all for me for tonight. Thanks folks and I’ll be back for the final day tomorrow.

Ha ha looks like a classic kick-back (off the books and under the table) plug for PGS snowboards there. Someone is either doing or jerking off someone in Rockefeller Center — the SOS basically.

Fetch your brothers of A-ha! http://www.a-ha.com lost the curling match and fashion battle, but they won with the hair and will get first dibs on the local hotties at their free concert later tonight.

Even so you going to be okay?

Can you get us backstage passes so we can hook up with the hot passovers?

I’m good Paolo. Thanks for the concern. My ancestors asserted themselves well these Olympics.

Forgive my ignorance, but what are “hot passovers”

Well you know A-ha! can only have so many chicks in their concert harem of course, so those standing around and who could not get in who were passed over, well, someone has to take care of them backstage … 😀

Hook us up with the tix leave the rest to me.

        Ah I gotcha.

I’ll see what I can do.

Fetch, damnit, if they don’t know any better or just continue to be lazy, the US men’s curling team should just wear the same uniforms at the bobsledding team and leave it at that next time. Now those guys look sharp and are taken seriously!

Get to work on it not just for me or yourself, but for country of course.

Having Shani would require him to actually be a team player, something he’s never been (which is ok). So no “shoulda woulda coulda”

    • February 27, 2010 at 8:46 pm

He was going to do it this year, but at the last second decided to pull out.

Again, not that I blame him, but I think the shoulda woulda coulda is justifiable in this case.

“The fact that we got Silver in this event without Shani Davis is amazing. That’s an easy Gold with him in there.”

    Injury to Davis?

And thanks — some of us don’t know the bobsledding results.

Screw ice dancing that was so bad I had to run back to change the channel.

I’ll be watching the hockey game no one else is watching when that is on.

And then after tomorrow after a week off of the Olympics, I’ll watch the alpine skiing replays for what I missed too.

Davis isn’t injured, he just doesn’t race in the team sprint event. He’s a lone wolf.

A-ha Fetch, I think he checked the event schedules and just wanted to go watch A-ha in curling tonight so then he made up this lone wolf business.

He failed to see them win gold of course, but he did learn that apparently they still use lots of mousse and has backstage passes to their show tonight sponsored by Loreal studio products.

My favorite event of the day is definitely the women’s team speedskating USA vs Germany even though the Germans won… that girl sliding across the finish line and thinking she lost it for her team before realizing they won was awesome.

Sistah Cracka welcome at last. Hey do you like A-ha, aka the Norwegian curling team?

I spotted them at the games undercover earlier today, and Fetch got some tix.

And speaking of hair again, what line of products do you prefer? 😛

    (corny hockey humour):

Slovakia have a player named Satan (for real!), so if you had a player on your team named Jesus how would you play him and why?
