IFAF Jr. World Championships, Day One

Ok, it’s not an olympic sport, but it’s international competition so the hell with it

Oh yes, there is a world championship of American Football. And this year, for the first time ever, there is a Junior World Championship.

Competitors in the tournament must be aged 19 or younger. Interestingly, Canada is the #1 seed in the tournament due to a recent record of success at the junior level. The United States is the #2 seed.

Day one took place on Saturday, and here are the results:

Canada 55, New Zealand 0

Japan 10, Germany 7

Mexico 41, Sweden 0

USA 78, France 0

None of those are typos, and they all must have been boring as hell to go to, except for possibly the United States game, which must have thrilled the Canton, Ohio crowd. Team USA running back David Wilson ran for 181 yards and 4 touchdowns. Team USA posted 610 yards in the game. France’s total? 7. 7 yards. They averaged .1 yards per play. Team USA plays Mexico on Wednesday

The tournament’s best uniforms? New Zealand and Sweden

Really?

I know that’s what you’re asking yourself if you’re reading this. Yes, this is my 4th blog. But fear not. I’m going to be able to devote the necessary time to this place. I’ve always loved the Olympics, so why not write about it?

I probably won’t post a ton on here, maybe once or twice a week or so (until the couple months around the Games of course) and if you’ll follow me on Twitter (fetch9) you’ll be all caught up on when I post.

Thanks for reading, and please do stop by and leave a comment.
